The Department of Engineering Physics (DEP) has an active academic environment, which consists of strong research teams. The main research fields include nuclear technology and application, nuclear energy science and engineering, nuclear fuel cycle and materials, radiation protection and environment protection, apparatus science and technology, medical physics and engineering, particle physics and nuclear physics, safety science and engineering. Over the last few years, the department’s research facilities have expanded continuously, and scientific research ability has improved rapidly, resulting in the significant developments in our research subjects.

To satisfy the great needs of China, the department has undertaken a large number of major and key projects from national scientific research programs, such as The National Key Research and Development Program of China, The National Key Technologies R&D Program of China, The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, The National Key Basic Research Program of China and National Nature Science Foundation of China. The department has also established long-term collaborative programs with many domestic and foreign research institutions. With the ultimate goal of transforming technology achievements into industry, the department set up a series of university-industry joint research institutions. Adhering to independent innovation, the department has obtained a series of major scientific research achievements and awards.
