On September 18, 2020, the third activity of the professional internship for TUNEM 2019 students started at the Nuctech Company Limited (Nuctech). Students in Beijing were advised to visit offline while the rest of the students participated online.
To begin with, Associate Professor Yu Jiang, advisor of TUNEM program introduced Nuctech. An instructor from Nuctech then started with a brief introduction and presentation regarding projects carried out by Nuctech across the globe. Nuctech was founded in 1997 (derived from Tsinghua University) and in a mere span of around 23 years, it has established itself as a large product and service provider within China and around the world for a diversified range of customers providing a long chain of products. It was really enlightening for all of the students on how effectively Nuctech is manufacturing and providing its products along with after sales services to different customers in different parts of the world. It has its global manufacturing plants in China, Europe, and South America, etc. Nuctech provides its products to wide range of customers covering nuclear industry, customs, rails networks, aviation and subways etc. Nuctech also provides products and services for cargo and vehicle market, check-in baggage security inspection, and domestic railway inspection market around the world. The importance of social responsibility for Nuctech as a corporation was also highlighted, many social works have been done for the betterment of the society.
After the presentation, a visit to Moving Container/Vehicle Inspection System was arranged. One of the team leaders from Nuctech instructed the students regarding working system. It was a great opportunity to learn about the basic working principle of moving scanners that are used at different facilities for inspection and security. After the visit of the system, the students also visited accelerator workshop where another instructor from Nuctech briefed them regarding the knowledge of accelerators.
It was a great learning experience for all the students of TUNEM 2019 to get to know about Nuctech as a company, as a manufacturer and as one of the leading safety/security related products provider to different industries within China and all around the world.
