The tour aimed to enable international students to better understand China and integrate into Tsinghua University via visiting various exhibitions in the museum. The first exhibition, “Crossing Parallels: German Design 1945–1990”, explored the differences and similarities between East and West Germany's design concepts and practices, outlining the panorama of post-war German design history. The students obtained basic comprehension of the contrasting evolution concepts and routes of modern design in East and West Germany presented in the exhibition, as well as marveled at the exquisite practicality of German design in that era.

The other exhibitions featured numerous precious Ming Dynasty furniture and works, as well as exquisite weaving and embroidery works of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Despite undergoing hundreds of years of ravages, these collections still reflect the craftsmanship and essences of cultural art of different dynasties in China, embodying the ingenious weaving techniques as the crystallization of national wisdom. The students were especially fascinated by the traditional Chinese furniture wood joint structure, known as the mortise and tenon.
